Ruargo Farm in Arcturus, Goromonzi District, has transformed into a vibrant hub of Zimbabwe’s agricultural renaissance.
On a recent field tour, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Professor Obert Jiri toured the farm to witness the progress of the Horticulture and Livestock Recovery and Growth Plans, cornerstones of the country’s Vision 2030 strategy.
The visit reflected a growing momentum in Zimbabwe’s quest for food security, with both crop and livestock sectors showing resilience and promise.

The farm has three hectares of potatoes, five hectares of cabbages, six hectares of green mealies, and 0.5 hectares of onions stretched across fertile ground.

Nearby, a thriving livestock section boasted 353 pigs, 67 beef cattle, 138 goats, 243 ducks, 7,000 broiler chickens, as well as rabbits and sheep.

In his remarks, Prof. Jiri described Ruargo Farm as a model of diversified and climate-smart agriculture, representing the bold materialisation of national transformation policies.

He commended farmers for treating agriculture as a business and called for continued investment in local seed potato production, livestock nutrition, irrigation, and disease control to sustain the growth.
